World's Biggest Problems

1.       Environmental concerns are a big problem especially for developing countries that are now going through their own “industrial age”.  If we continue to overlook the conditions of the environment then it will impact many future generations.
a.       A potential solution is to start funding technology that could help improve the environment or building structures that have some environmentally friendly features to them.
2.       Violence is another big concern. There is a constant battle of whether the cause of the violence is people or guns. This has been such a heated debate that I feel that the main situation is overlooked and people are more concerned about whether or not they can keep their guns.
a.       Violence is a difficult problem to find a solution for. However, I believe that violence could be reduced if we change our mindset of violence in the media.
3.       Education is becoming a concern. It is hard to get a quality education when school funding is low. I feel that most schools are now put under so much pressure that they’ve adapted to care more about funding and average test scores than the actual quality of the student's education.
a.       I feel that increasing funding in education would be a solution. It may be a price that many people are unwilling to pay, but it has so many returns in the future.
4.       Food standards are also a concern. Many times questionable chemicals are placed within the food we eat.
a.       A solution would be to do more research on the safety of these chemicals or produce more natural ways to keep products fresh.
5.       Race Related Conflicts
a.       There is no real solution to this, but to make sure that when a race related conflict does occur that it is addressed to make sure the public knows that this problem still exist.
6.       General Apathy. People are less passionate now, which is causing many aspects of our lives to be affected.
a.       A solution is to get people excited about things again and give them more opportunities and time to see what they want to do with their future.
7.       Poverty in underdeveloped countries
a.       A solution is to try to come up with a strategy for underdeveloped countries to help them maintain a stable economy. That way, when they receive money/donations from other countries they will know how to maintain it.
8.       Overpopulation.
a.       We could raise awareness about the potential effects of overpopulation.
9.       Wealth Inequality
a.       It’s hard to find a solution for this, but maybe wealth could be better distributed if more career opportunities were opened for those that are less well off.
10.   The absence of political participation. Most people no longer keep up with politics, which can cause problems and allow for many unlawful acts to be overlooked.
a.    A solution that could be useful is integration of current events and politics within classes, especially during high school.

  1. Toni,
You have a great list of global issues, many of which I used myself! I respect that you brought of the lack of political participation. That is one that I didn't have on my list but definitely agree with! Imagine how much more educated decisions and progress would be made if people tried to understand government more. I think we would have a much more accountable system that would be more representative of the American people and our values. I also listed hunger and poverty but one that you didn't have that I used was Cancer and Disease. If you want to check out more of what I wrote, here is my own blog post! http://ashleydunson.blogspot.com/2016/01/worlds-biggest-problems.html

  2. Hey Toni,
I think your solution to poor education was very well put. It seems as though a better education could solve more than one of our world problems. Like you, I also have race and inequality as one of my major world problems. My solution being education. I believe that is more people continue to strive for better education, more solutions will be created for our world problems. Take a look at my blog and I'm sure you will see a lot of similar ideas. http://lasserchristian.blogspot.com/2016/01/worlds-biggest-problems.html
